I used to have a similar one that worked wonderfully for 10 plus years but finally gave out. I put in the batteries and it started to go...wouldn't shut off. I went to open a can with it, it wouldn't open. It doesn't work right at all. I definitely got a defective one. My can opener only opened half a can then stopped. So disappointed I am sending it back. It looked good and felt good in my arthritic hands but useless if it doesn't work. works like a champ.
