Thick padding and super soft inside. With my small laptop, I still have room for a thin file in there too. This is nice however I wish there was a pocket or something holding my laptop in, if the zipper were to bust (which I don't think it will) my laptop would fall to the floor. Perfect fit ,nice ,happy purchase. Great My only con is the protruding of the charging cord when I place it in the bag. Other than that, I LOVE it! Great product for my surface pro 4,well protection.
