It was when I placed my finger over the button. Otherwise it did not do what it was suppose to. This is an awesome little lamp. It's not really meant for the traditional use. It did provide adequate light when on. Would recommend to others I purchased this to use in my hallway where there are no outlets for a night light. The motion scensor works as advertised and goes off after about 20 seconds.
