An ornamental, Japanese cherry tree with glossy red bark and red tinted, green foliage. Showy, pinkish white flowers in spring bloom in large clumps along the branches, covering the tree in color. Unlike other Cherry trees, the 'Kwanzan begins to grow leaves while it is still in bloom. The tree has been planted along with the 'Yoshino cultivar in Washington, DC for the annual cherry blossom festival.
