The snake has a hide box under the heater and light I think it is brilliant that this lamp has an automatic temperature control. My chickie babies are in a pen outside and aren't quite acclimated to the changing temperatures. Made a really concerning burning smell when I first put it in my lamp, but it's good now. I would still recommend watching it closely for a few hours after initially turning it on...
