I love them, not only do I soak them in water, but when cooking I put white whine to be soaked up also. The flavor from the plank is fabulous . Worked I've never grilled with a cedar plank before, so I have no experiences with other products to have for comparisons. I soaked them all night and used them to grill salmon. Great value planks. I use them for all my salmon grilling on the big green egg. These are my first purchased cedar planks so I can't compare them to any others but I will say, they work as advertised and I've had two successful salmon grilling experiences...
