It was ok on the floor but not on low pile carpet. If I had to buy this again I most likely wouldn't. I just moved into a new place and the floors are a real pain in the .... I've used Hoover, Eureka and most recently, a very expensive Shark which died after only 15 months. More powerful than Dirt Devil - this vacuum has 10amps, so it really sucks things up. The bottom portion is removable to use as a hand vac. Who could ask for more? crap
