It registers room temperature at 98 degrees! Of course, this happened after the 30 day return period. had it for a few weeks and it works as expected. Convenient and precise kitchen tool! The only reason I didn't give it 5 ???? is because it collapses a little too easily when trying to stick it in the meat. Performs as expected. Can't beat it for the price It's ok; not exactly instant read but serviceable and much cheaper than a Thermopen Listed as 'instant read' but the specs say 5 seconds to get a proper temperature so not quite instant. we've used this a few times, and it seems to be fairly accurate. told up we'll for convenient storage. It's small and it does work but there is no reading for fish.
